| 250357 | 2004-07-07 04:06:00 | I'm sorry guys... love the forum even though I can never help with people's troubles. My big grumble for the day is the 'flash' ad that has started popping up on the PF1 page... a wonderful invention I'm sure (totally kidding!) I don't have any problem with side ads, even ones that flash annoyingly because someone's got to pay the bills, but this is to my mind overkill and intrusive... and will have the opposite to intended effect, ie not likely to make me purchase a Compaq ever... ever. The Stuff News site and now the Herald are doing it. I sent e-mail to Stuff telling them what I thought and of course got no reply :-) haven't been back there and if PF1 keep doing it I will have to think twice about looking at my favourite forum. So, can I switch it off and what do other people think of it? Joe90 'You spin me right round baby... like a record' :-) |

| 250359 | 2004-07-07 04:16:00 | I'm using Firefox without the Flash plug-in. What ads? For those times when I want to see "Flash" material, I reconfigure the firewall, look at it in IE, then block IE with the firewall again right away. Flash is more of a pain than a bonus for me, but your mileage may vary. It won't affect my chance of buying a Compaq - I've had one and learned my lesson. </moaning> R2 |

| 250360 | 2004-07-07 04:18:00 | I'm using MYIE2, but doesn't have option to get rid of flash things (I think). When I right click on the ad it brings up a 'flash' menu to accept or deny... this is fine but of course the ad is already there in your face. Maybe it's the flashing box on the desktop that Avatar was talking about and I should just pull the plug :-) |

| 250366 | 2004-07-07 06:02:00 | Well, the google blocker is all I use, and it doesn't block that. However, it helps pay the bills, so I can't afford to be too grumpy. That being said, it appears on the main page as well as when I post replies or view threads. That becomes annoying. Not sure that it has a positive consumer outcome, but I better stay out of that discussion. It won't be there forever. If it really bugs you, start blocking. robo. |
