250271 2004-07-06 09:56:00 I need to reformat a six-year-old Win 98 computer with a P2XLX/e motherboard which doesn't appear to have a disc with motherboard drivers to install . The motherboard manual mentions a floppy disk that contains a "System Health Monitor Utility" and IDE Drivers for Win 3 . 1/95 and that's it, nothing else .

Is this normal? Do I not need to install motherboard drivers for this PC after installing Windows? The only disc I have for this machine, apart from Windows, is for the modem . My searches on Google turned up a few BIOS updates but I don't want those .

It looks like there is a separate soundcard in this box as well and I'm not sure what to do about that - whether that will need drivers after a format as well .

Any advice regarding this matter would be appreciated . :-)

250273 2004-07-06 10:09:00 Sorry, link didn't work, you will have to fill in the motherboard type yourself here (www.dfi.com) Pheonix (280)
250274 2004-07-06 10:22:00 Thanks Pheonix but I have been there. On this page (www.dfi.com) there are a bunch of drivers as I described earlier - system health utility, etc and one other.

I just expected that there would be more than that, that's all. If there isn't then I won't worry. :-)

250275 2004-07-06 10:43:00 It uses the Intel chipset which is all hardware driven. Therefore there is no need for software drivers. It also helped that Intel were "in bed " with Microsoft, so windows works with this.

Have fun.

250278 2004-07-06 10:53:00 Now that is an excellent idea Metla, thanks. :-)

I remember you mentioned that program not long ago so I'll see if I can get it to do its tricks on this baby.
