2004-07-06 05:15:00 | Have a look at FAQ on Corrupt File (www.dslreports.com). The hard way they talk about is not that hard and in my opinion will be the way to go as using retore will reset any changes you have made in the meantime (unless of course those changes are the problem anyway). Link down the bottom of the page to the relevent MS KB article. Cheers Murray P

2004-07-08 02:17:00 | do i have to try that and write it into a diskette? | kunatchi (1484) | |
2004-07-08 05:51:00 | Write it to a diskette, leave it in the floppy drive and reboot. It usually runs for a long time (several hours) but if you are lucky it might identify a fault quite quickly. It identified a faulty RAM stick inside 5 minutes on the first pass last time I used it Cheers Billy 8-{)

2004-10-05 09:03:00 | i put memtest on a floppy but it didn't do anything when i restarted :|?? | Nighthawk (5846) | |
2004-10-05 09:10:00 | Hi Nighthawk , is your BIOS set to boot to floppy before the hard disk ? , sometimes under advanced BIOS features - then set 1st/ 2nd etc boot device and make sure Floppy is first . | KatiMike (242) | |
2004-10-05 09:11:00 | Nighthawk: Did you run the install.bat file after you unzipped Memtest86? It writes a .bin file to the disk and after that you can boot from the disk... | wintertide (1306) | |
