250190 2004-07-06 04:04:00 This is a complaint I have submitted to my ISP about its interrelationship with another ISP; I have complained to the other ISP but still have got no satisfaction:

Paradise.net webmail _isn't_ being handled rightly through maxnet.co.nz. let me make things a little clearer - I am currently not on a home dialup setup because of a brainfart called the Property Boom, which in a frankly fascist manner made me effectively homeless.

I have kept my paradise.net.nz account going because I like to keep in touch with people overseas, including friends and family. I have my PC in storage, and am forced to use a Neighbourhood Net cybercafe - using maxnet.co.nz - at which I am a volunteer, to keep up with my email.

I have discovered a nasty bug in the system - I get this offensive little certificate popping up:
Error Message:
Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch

You have attempted to establish a connection with "paradise.net.nz". However, the security certificate presented belongs to "secure.maxnet.co.nz". It is possible, though unlikely, that someone may be trying to intercept your communications with this web site.

If you suspect the certificate shown does not belong to "paradise.net.nz", please cancel the connection and notify the site adminitrator.

General Certificate Details:
SSL Server Certificate

Issued to:
secure.maxnet.co.nz
Maximum Internet Limited
<Not Part of Certificate>
1F:01:F9

Issued By:
Thawte Server CA
Thawte Consulting cc
Certification Services Division

Validity
15/09/03
25/09/04

Fingerprints
(etc)

and it then proceeds to log me out of Paradise.net, whatever I do (ie, cancel, accept, etc). It also has an interesting effect whenever I try to use the webmail - see attached file: (The attached file gave a maxnet webmail login to a paradise.net account. Just wonderful! Where _do_ they get off?)

So could you please get this sorted out. It's a bug that's bugging me and needs to be squashed A.S.A.P. - or I go to Geoff Palmer at PC World New Zealand.

250191 2004-07-06 08:23:00 Hi, welcome to Press F1 :D

I don''t really get what your problem is but here's what I think you are saying:

You cannot connect to Paradise's webmail server (www.paradise.net.nz 5b5a90) and clear your mail when using a Maxnet ISP?

Maybe it's a security certificate problem with the PCs where you work? Can you change the security certificate somehow? Have you somehow established a secure connection with Maxnet before going to the Paradise url?

My guess is that Paradise identifies it as possibly an unauthorised access to their secure mail servers.

I used to be with Paradise and never had any issues loggin into their webmail when using other ISPs in the past.
