250045 2004-07-05 11:53:00 ok i downloaded windows media player 10 beta... installed over 9 series, problem is, i want to uninstall WMP10b and reinstall 9 series: i tried add/remove programs, And it said it would roll back WMP to 9 series, so i clicked ok and it said it had been done.... restarted the computer; nothing. Tried running the 10b setup again to see if there was a repair/remove feature in it, but there isnt. so i tried installing 9 series again but it exited saying i need to uninstall the later version before i install 9 series. i tried system resore but there were (unusually) no resore points for when WMP10b was installed (a few days earlier).
So how do i remove WMP10b so i can reinstall 9?
PS the 10b still needs a LOT of work :p

250046 2004-07-05 12:18:00 Do you really need WMP

I would be inclined to install Winamp 5.03 (its the very latest version) Has some very nice features. Download it, and see what you think

If you have you heart set on WMP9, and are still having trouble with your installation, I would try installing a very old version of WMP and try upgrading to WMP9 from there.

250047 2004-07-05 12:47:00 thanks.... i havnt tried the lates vers. of winamp... but i will, its just that that last time i tried it, it was pritty messy, it had around 4 seperate windows if i can recall correctly... also...
media player seems to convert from mp3/wma to cda format BEFORE it burns the CD... making it slower. i have heard that winamp doesnt do this, i would like a prog that can convert and burn at the same time.... to make use of my buffer underrun thingie on my so called speedy 52x24x52 burner :D

You don't have to have all those windows open. Customise it how you want it.

Did you not get a CD burning program, eg Nero, with your CD writer? That will convert and burn your music files "on the fly".

Just remember that burning music files at a high speed can often prevent older CD players from being able to read them. Burning at a slow speed (I use 8x) will overcome this. Newer CD players appear to be OK with higher burn speeds.

yea but still, it is messy cos its hard to find a song seeing winamp has a wierd way of organising songs . . . ive just installed winamp 6 . 02 pro, and im going to keep it for a while to see if i can get used to it, but its gonna take it a lot to impress me enough . . .

I got the latest vers of nero with the burner, but when i try to burn an audio CD via nero, it either says it doesnt have wma codecs, or it doesnt have mp3 codecs :| :o . besides, i like to choose music to burn from within a media library, such as that in WMP and WA, whereas nero requires you to select the actual file, and although i could deal with that, theres still the whole mp3/wma codecs issue ?:|

well . . . i dont really have a problem with that as all my cd players arent old . . . i think they can handle it :p

also, even when i had WMP 9 series, i was constantly getting a codec error on around half the songs i tried to burn, but after restarting WMP it was fine again ?:|
:( Ijust want my old WMP baaaaccckkkk :(
(and some help on the whole nero thing would be great :p )

250052 2004-07-06 07:20:00 Good advice from Baldy. Worth checking MusicMatch Jukebox. It will do all you wish. Convert & burn. Rip to mp3's & others. Plus the Music library is great for displaying, playing, sorting music files.
