| 250162 | 2004-07-06 01:46:00 | In the past couple of days, I've initiated a search of PressF1 postings to have my browser (Mozilla Firefox) hang up on "connecting to www.imrworldwide.com...") IMR Worldwide turns out to be Red Sheriff, the hit-tracking company. So presumably something goes out to register the fact that another user has sought PressF1's valuable advice; but finds the Sheriff's server is out of commission. Oddly, however, this only seemed to happen with Mozilla fire-animals; MSIE does the search without tripping up (I didn't try Netscape, and the problem has now [touch wood] gone away). What was (is) the problem in this case? Does anyone at PressF1 know? IMR/Red Sheriff is far from the only offender; every few weeks (fortunately inclreasingly rarely), I have found my access to a needed website blocked because some related traffic-measuring or ad-inserting server has gone to sleep. Should there be a time-out on these things that lets you through to the main site after a while whether it can do the extraneous thing or not? I asusme this is the normal state of affairs and when access it blocked, it's a malfunction. As I say, a rare problem, but is there anything that can be done about it? Argus |

| 250163 | 2004-07-06 05:39:00 | No problems here using Firefox. However, I have noticed at times a page can stall on the "tranferring data from doupleclick.com" or some such a refresh usually works sometimes you need 2. I could just block the critters but like to add my support to PF1. Cheers Murray P |
