250053 2004-07-05 12:18:00 Hello,

Does anybody know off a site offering free scans to check if the drivers need updating and then downloads the updates?

I found some software but require you to pay to get the update part.

Hoping to hear from someone!!!

250054 2004-07-05 13:06:00 What is the softaware, what operating system. You could try windows update or Driver Guide dot com (http://members.driverguide.com/) enter your user name as "driver" and password as "all" san quotes. There are a few utilities around that identify drivers and IIRC they can also tell if updates are available, but that could be in the paid version of the utilities. Are they videa codecs your after, perhaps. There was a thread on PF1 for these about a month ago, try a PF1 search for video codec (top of page 3rd link from right).

Getting driver updates that Microsoft offers when you do your critical updates. Both times I've done it I've had problems, once on 98 ( scanreg/restore saved that time) and once with xp ( 1 vote for recovery points and driver roll backs).
The best place I would say is the manufacturers web site.
