250734 2004-07-08 11:38:00 Do a search on the forum for ~ (tild) it's an OE thing IIRC, could have been an MS patch issue as well.

250735 2004-07-08 11:39:00 The tilde ~ appearing on your desktop is a bug with one of the MS updates and your adress book. Each time you make a change in your address book, the backup file ends up on your desktop. You can read more here (www.pchell.com). Jen C (20)

Each to his own kiki. Some people find that OE serves them very well and see no need to change. Before moving to Outlook I used OE for many years without any problems at all.

You won't induce people to change programs just by telling them to. Some of us need reasoned argument and personal experience before we change some thing we have become used to, have no problems with, and rely upon daily.

I'm not getting at you personally by the way, I am speaking generally about the proponents of Linux, Opera, Mozilla, Firefox, Open Office, AVG and a raft of other alternative programs that share one thing in common, they are not made by Microsoft.

Some of us like MS products, and not without reason.

Cheers

250742 2004-07-09 03:52:00 Another reason to not use Internet Explorer here (news.com.com)
Quite simply the normal person does not have the ability to make it secure.

It is much safer for the average surfer to use an alternative browser
