250653 2004-07-08 06:13:00 There has recently been quite considerable publicity on malicious key stroke logging worms.
At present I have Norton Personal Firewall installed.
Is there any point in installing a second firewall such as Zone Alarm?
How can I check if my computer is already infected. At present everything seems OK but how can one be sure?
Thanks for your help.

250654 2004-07-08 06:23:00 The one firewall will suffice. You could get conflicts if installing another which may actually weaken your security.

The only way you know you are infected is if there is if an unknown program tries to access the net, or an Anti-virus program tells you. So it is absolutely imperitive to keep it up-to-date.

Any good trojan/keylogger will not give any outward signs that it is on your computer. So only way to tell is the way's I have explained. Mind you, there may be others I have missed, but I am sure others will be happy to explain.

250655 2004-07-08 06:26:00 This is not much help but just to let you know, yesterday Nortons Antivirus picked up this on our computer and deleted it. I was advised to change my passwords which I did my main ones like yahoo and xtra and then I did an Adaware and Nortons scan and nothing came up.

Cheers Bug :)

250656 2004-07-09 08:49:00 There was a useful article in the NZ Herald (read by us jafas !) saying that apart from the usual ( ie anti-virus, firewalls, ad-ware etc, etc) a good way to stay ahead of the key stroke loggers is if you have the password "anger", type in "danger", then go back and delete the "d". The reasoning is that the key stroke loggers are not sophisticated enough to pick up the amendment.

Pretty simple is'nt it. Even I can do that !!!!!!!!!!
