There is a auction (www.trademe.co.nz) on trademe for one of these devices, starting bid/buy now price is $530 with no bids currently.

Are you looking to buy one and not sure how much is a reasonable price?

He is not selling....

Just as a guide, the original N-Gage is selling brand-new, but parallel imported through E-Town, for $399 incl GST, including 3 free game cards. Unfortunately, I have never used one, or seen one working, so I would not know anything about them.

250563 2004-07-08 05:29:00 I wouldn't buy cellphones from USA is I were you. Unlike Asian countries, the prices there are not cheapest. The only benefit is better technology. But mind you, I am a regular visitor to specialist cellphone store website, been the teen I am, and most of what they have overseas arrive at our land not long after they are released overseas.

Added to everything is the risk of warranty issues, and if it is over $700 in value, will sometimes ask you to declare for customs, and hence pay GST, unless, it is already out of its box, and in personal luggage, etc. [looking used too] They can be very fussy with premium technology equipments.

With parallel import, etc. you will have to be quick to arrive back and sell, or else you may make a loss. Remember that there are limited numbers of people willing to fork out premium prices for cellphones.

However, if you were going into Asia, its a whole different story. I have known people who bring brand new phones in, using themselves for about 2 months, then selling as second hands in good conditions, and yet, still making profit. Not only are they using the latest technology for free, they're making more profits!

250564 2004-07-08 05:50:00 i wouldn't touch ngages with a barge pole... i have yet to read one favourable review. Their controls are crappy, the games are crappy, its been poorly designed. Overall its just crap...

Save your money and get a Gameboy Advance, from experience they are heaps more fun and there is a HUGE library of games (considering all the old gameboy games are compatable). Save your money and get a GBA, if your wanting a phone as well remember 'jack of all trades, master of none'. Buy a seperate phone and console, its worth it. Considering you'll be looking at $400 to $500 for a ngage and a GBA is $200, with a semi-decent phone for $300 it works out to be the same.

250565 2004-07-08 05:55:00 I should also agree with DangerousDave, I have yet to hear anything good about the N-Gage. I remember NZHerald's 'connect' reviewed it sometime ago. Didn't remember it scoring high, in fact, I think it suggested something like Dave mentioned above. ~~~~~ s y ~~~~~ (2054)
250566 2004-07-08 21:55:00 there is a parrall import place in albany auckland selling them really cheaply. But I forwarn you, you WILL look stupid using one as a phone as the mic and speaker are on the wrong side.

Gone down in price a lot cause they are relasing/ or released n-gage 2
