250543 2004-07-07 20:36:00 Recently bought a 2nd hand computer (maybe a big mistake!) set up with windows xp. Has just recently started taking a long time to start up. It keeps recycling over start up mode, ie, windows loading, blank screen, windows loading , blank screen for several minutes. Sometimes restarting comp helps other times I just leave it and it starts ok. Have checked to make sure no extra start up programmes loaded, no difference. Any help appreciated. Gazzmoid (5852)

250547 2004-07-07 21:50:00 Hmmmm, not sure, as its 2nd hand. Do you think it might be wise to reload windows? I'm tempted to anyways as its got a few little niggles which are also annoying me. grrrr. It seemed a bargain at the time haha.
Thanks for your help

Next time that it does boot into Windows OK go into System Properties and enable the option for it to display an error message rather than automatically reboot. When you have the error message you can then put it into Google or ask here for more advice.
