| 250493 | 2004-07-07 10:07:00 | Hi people, Wee opera 7.50 problem. A while back I installed opera 7.50 from the internet, okay no problem there. But not being a very wise and cool wizard I wasn't sure if I had java installed, so when the latest PC World mag had a copy with java I installed it on the computer, on another partition. Okay I now have installed on the computer three copies of opera (7.23, and two of 7.50) The one I'm using is the latest one from the PC World CD installed on the E partition of my HDD. Problem I don’t seem to be able to copy (import) the mail from the other 7.50 version to the newer installed version, I have managed to import the "contacts" though. Also on the previous version on the C: partition under <program/opera75/profile/cache> there is about 1,060 objects totalling 5.17MB should these all be there if not how does one get rid. But on the newer version of 7.50 there is no <program/opera75/profile/cache>. One other thing under <Tools/preferences> the memory cache is set to Auto, what in your opinion is a good figure for that to be at. oh and the <Disk Cache is set to 2MB again ?. cheers merlin-nz ;-) |

| 250494 | 2004-07-07 11:13:00 | due to a sicurity flaw/bug in 7.50 its recommended to update to 7.51. personally i would back up all your opera setting (see opera website if not sure how) uninstall opera, delete any leftovers and then reinstall. also note if you installed in mulituser mode the location of the cache/settings etc will be different which may explain why its not in that location. |

Opera's cache can be emptied from Alt+P > History and cache > Empty/clear now for all the items on that page . I suspect that the reason only one version has anything in its cache is because the newer version found the older one and is using that . Not entirely sure though, just a guess . Are you planning on removing the two older versions? My Memory Cache is also set to Auto and the Disk Cache is set to 20MB but I have just increased that to 50MB since I am now on ADSL . For dialup it is probably better to stay at 20MB . |

| 250496 | 2004-07-07 12:09:00 | Thanks people, Susan, yes am planning on deleting all older versions, but not until I get a copy of 7.51. Downloading on dailup takes for ever espesally if java is d/loaded. If I D/load a copy of 7.51 without Java should it be installed on top of 7.23 or 7.50, no not 7.50 cause there is a flaw, :D bugger. cheers merlin-nz ;-) |

In fact I haven't even got Java installed, on neither Windows nor Linux and I haven't missed it . > If I D/load a copy of 7 . 51 without Java should it be installed on top of 7 . 23 or 7 . 50, no not 7 . 50 cause > there is a flaw, :D bugger . I think I would be inclined to save your emails, bookmarks and whatever and uninstall the whole lot . Clean out all the bits and pieces then start with a brand new fresh version of 7 . 52 . If you don't want to do that then I guess it is a case of eenie meenie miney mo . :p :D |

| 250500 | 2004-07-08 05:39:00 | I back again so soon susan When one gets to the D/load page one is faced with where to d/load from. If you choose the nearest country you would use Australia. ok, but which one ie: Planet Mirror-FTP or HTTP. Or does it really matter :p:D cheers merlin-nz ;-) |
