251095 2004-07-11 00:05:00 Hi Shaggy

While cleaning your computer/fans etc isa good preventative maintenance idea. it is unlikely to be the cause of your restarts. Slow/no fans will only take effect after overheating has occurred, and unplugging/replugging won't do much for an overheated computer/power supplu. Only time will provide sufficient cooling to allow a restart.

From your description it is almost certainly nothing to do with your house power either. Most computer power supplies will successfully run at inputs below 200 volts without you even knowing they are doing it.

I'd watch the 6-way adapter though, so try your computer plugged directly into the wall before you decide it is at fault, I have seen some incedibly shonky multiboards and it could be a simple as duff connections on that outlet.

Failing that, it is either a psu fault or the MB as already suggested. The psu may just have a bad internal connection, and although you can't fix that yourself, a solid thump on the case may provoke a restart which will help confirm that. Cleaning fans may be good for your soul, but it is unlikely to fix the fault.

Cheers

251096 2004-07-11 05:36:00 Thanks for the suggestion about the PSU Billy T.
I'll try pluging it into the wall directly.

I have cleaned the whole inside with a Can of compressed air,
I couldn't believe how much dust etc came out.

I'll give this ago & see if it will stop cutting out, I'm kinda hoping it was just overheating from to much dust :/

Thanks again for all the help!
Daniel :)

251097 2004-07-11 08:03:00 Suggest download Everest Home edition from

http://www.lavalys.com

Look at Computer | Sensor
This should give you all the temps, Fan rpm and voltage values.

The trouble with this new fangled stuff called electricity is you just can't rely on it.
