251029 2004-07-09 23:17:00 It's pretty neat that Mozilla issued a wee patch to plug this hole instead of us having to download another full version. Haven't known them to do that before. :-) Susan B (19)
251030 2004-07-09 23:18:00 Hi Jen, thanks for the heads up on that :-). Im still using "Firefox" 0.8, mainly because the extensions i like to use aren't available for 0.9 yet :_|.
In paticular "Tabbed browser ext" and "External App. ext".
So while i have you attention... can you answer this? Has 0.9 integrated the features from either of these extensions into the latest version 0.9?
From what i have read it doesn't appear to have or am i missing something?

Cheers :-)

251031 2004-07-09 23:34:00 Hi J ZEP :-)

Firefox has most of the Tabbed Browser extensions that Firebird had but not all in the one extension . The main one that I like is the "Single Window" which allows external links that you click on to be opened in a new tab rather than a new browser window .

There are a couple of other useful ones, like Duplicate Tab and UndoCloseWindow which I find handy at times but that's pretty much it for me . There may be others that you might find handy .

I like to have my tabs at the bottom of the browser window but there doesn't appear to be anything that allows this yet . It isn't a biggie though because my main browser is Opera which does way more neat tricks than Firefox . I mainly only use Firefox when on this Win 98 box .

I am not sure about the External App one - is that the one that opens IE to view a page? If so, I think that one is there .

Check out this page ( . mozilla . org/extensions/showlist . php?type=E&application=firefox&numpg=10" target="_blank">update . mozilla . org) for all the extensions currently available . :-)

251032 2004-07-10 00:35:00 Hi Susan :-), yes i have been keeping an eye on the extension page ;-), no luck yet, however it took forever for it (TBE) to be realeased for "firefox" too;-). What i like about the "Tabbed browser Ext" is its almost like 3 or 4 extensions in one ;-). Like i like to be able to open all links in new tabs pretty much, but still have the option not to when nescessary;-), other things like opening tabs in the background, rearrannging tab order by drag, duplicate tab, unclose windows and the list goes on... there are just lots of little things I miss if I haven't got it :-). Actually i recently installed "Firefox" on a friends system, firstly without it(TBE), it wasn't until then that i realised how many options i use in that extension...
"Single window" sounds like another option i get in TBE too :-).
"Exteranl App" is good cause it allows you to add programs to your toolbar, so for instance i can open O.E, My docs, icq etc... from my toolbar - like I.E i guess, and how it allows you to open programs - paticualarly handy if you just use the "Firefox" browser, instead of the whole Mozilla suite which includes email ;-).
I mainly wondered with the new version of 0.9 if they would start to integrate some of these features?

Its all down to personal preference though eh :-), it was quite interesting watching somebody who had always used I.E and how they wanted things set up :O.

Cheers :-)
