251086 2004-07-10 11:02:00 I don't think taking the cover off a computer case can do any harm. Just make sure the power is turned off at the wall and the power supply. Megaman (344)

Getting a can or three of compressed air and blasting the dust out will do your computer a big favour. Do the job outside as it will be very messy. Be sure not to touch any of the parts while you are at it or you might fry things with static electricity. Using an anti-static wrist strap would be a good precaution.

251089 2004-07-10 11:38:00 I havent actually seen any around & I have been looking to :)
Next time I'm in town I'll ask the computer store :)

P.S Bios to get into that when the computer is starting I push delete & bios will come up right?
Then how do I find out how many RPM the fan is spinning at? & is it accurate or what it is ment to be?

Thanks Susan B & Megaman

Yes, usually, but watch the screen when it starts to boot up and it will tell you then.

Someone else will have to answer that one but maybe Motherboard Monitor will be able to tell you.

I think it would be a good idea to get the dust cleaned out pretty smartly as it doesn't do it any good. I recently heard about an oldish computer that blew up and when the owner took a look inside the PSU was absolutely full of dust.

Don't take the cover off the PSU to clean it, just blast it good and proper through the fan hole with the compressed air. You will need to take the computer cover off to clean the rest of the PC though. As I said before, be careful not to touch the parts with your fingers/hands, etc.
