2004-07-09 03:58:00 | Thanks Tweak'e, I suspected as much with the firewalls. This is only a temporary situation using ICS, as it doesn't work properly anyway (many sites unaccessible from the client PC) and I have a wireless router arriving soon hopefully. The Woosh modem will connect to that and then each PC will talk to the router - meaning each PC can then have its own firewall and not have any issues surrounding that. I am slowly catching up with all this new technology, it's been a while.... Thanks for your continued support. You obviously do a lot with computers...

2004-07-09 05:30:00 | Also maybe install another Anti-Virus program like AVG & see if it find any thing else. Make sure you disable PC-Cillin before running AVG as it may not like it. Good luck! :) PS: also maybe install Ad-aware & Spybot download URLS are in here: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz & see if they find any thing as well.

2004-07-09 05:34:00 | >Zone alarm supports ICS (I think the free version does as well) free ver dosn't. however you cn lower the sicurity level and it will work (fingers crossed as that may have changed in the last few vers) i'm a little surprised that some sites are not accessible with ICS. otherwise use a proxy.

2004-07-10 07:25:00 | OK I've got the virus issue under control. Turns out that he hadn't installed ANY of the service packs. [was told that SP4 had been installed, but no]. Next issue - internet access using ICS. Tweak'e - what's the story concerning proxies? You mention to use one, and I'm trying to sort this system out so that MSN Messenger will connect and I've read that I have to set the outgoing TCP port to 1863 but I don't know where or how to do this. Is it done in the Local Area Connection settings (for the LAN) or in the connection settings for the Woosh connection?

2004-07-10 10:17:00 | for a good basic proxy have a look here (www.analogx.com). unfortunatly it has no socks5 support so icq won't work. i have no idea with MSN messenger. otherwise ccproxy has a free one (max 3 pc's) which includes socks5 support.
