| 251404 | 2004-07-10 13:58:00 | I have installed mandrake 10 and downloaded this file "ltmodem-2.6.3-4mdk.tgz" from linmodems.technion.ac.il . I completed the installed. Kppp (query modem) finds my modem and says it's ready. I'm able to dial to my ISP and kppp displays a connection speed of 45333. However even though I'm on line the browser does not load any page. The timer icon is displayed but no loading is occuring. Also I'm unable to send or receive mail. Does anyone have any idea why this is occuring? Is the driver still not correctly installed? What can else can I check? regards Craig |

Ctrl/Alt/F2 and log in as root. Ctrl/Alt/F7 back to your GUI and try to connect. Ctrl/Alt/F2 to the black screen and do tail -20 /var/log/messages That will show you any complaints the system has about the process. (Ctrl/Alt/Fx replaces the Alt/Fx for switching between virtual consoles when a X Window is running. Console 7 (F7) is reserved to the GUI, Console 1 (F1) is normally the one you logged in with. |

Once my connection was established, the icon would appear in the tray area - but no traffic would go through. Apparently it was something to do with the route not being added, though I'm not completely sure on that one ;) |
