251239 2004-07-10 05:32:00 Hi People\
I bought a cd scratch repair kit (electric type) and it has a finishing fluid which has run out, does anyone know what it is, has resiny smell about it.

251240 2004-07-10 06:10:00 Brasso is very effective in polishing CD scratches. Sure its not that? godfather (25)
251241 2004-07-10 07:38:00 If it's a clear liquid which smells strongly of solvent, it's most likely a polycarbonate type substance dissolved in a strong solvent, which will fill the scratches and set like plastic. Or it could be a silicon type substance dissolved in solvent (similar to "Mica Cooktop Protector"). somebody (208)
251242 2004-07-10 09:04:00 It's a type of liquid polymer, basically a more refined version of liquid epoxy as you would use in fibreglassing.
It will be a proprietary formula so chances are you will have to buy another complete kit as chances of getting just the fluid are slim.
Where is it made?
Does it have a NZ distributor?
Try a web search on the company, flick them an email and see if they will send you more fluid.

251243 2004-07-11 03:16:00 It has the essential characteristic that it has the same refractive index as the polycarbonate. That's how it works. ;-)

As for what it is ... :D
