251496 2004-07-11 04:30:00 I have a network using an XP operating system on my main computer server and using a hub 3 other computers running windows 98 connected to it. The problem i have is very simple. I connect to the internet only via the sever.

On one of the 98 computers i have lost the little icon which appears on the right beside the clock to indicate when the computer is connected to the internet through the server. (handy because it also allowed you to disconnect by right clicking it.)

Can anyone tell me how to retreve this ability.
Thankyou

martin

251498 2004-07-11 05:42:00 It's a while since I used 98 but from memory : try going through the Control Panel, Open Network Connections , right click the LAN icon, properties, and from memory there is a tick box that says "show icon in notification area when connected" or something like that - very similar to the display option for the dial-up/DSL modem.

251499 2004-07-11 05:46:00 Are you sure you actually had the little network icon on your Win 98 computer? I was told a while ago that 98 didn't have one. You can get a free one from here (www.dalesplace.net) though.

Credit to go to Wuppo for giving me that link. :-)
