251818 2004-07-12 11:09:00 Hi F1 ers,

Does anyone here know who wrecks toshiba laptops please? I need a new FDD.
The floppy drive on my 2250 CDT laptop sucked a big one.
I had to get a pair of long nose pliers to get floppy out and a little spring was stuck in the back of it.
How bizarre there is a machined notch in the floppy very amazing.
Thanks

251820 2004-07-13 03:34:00 tedheath wrecks toshiba laptops. :D

Or their floppy drives, anyway. I know the feeling, Ted. :_| The thin metal cover on the floppy can get bent easily, and it will jam the disk inside a drive. I have had it happen enough times that I have developed a technique for removing the jammed disk. But if I notice before the floppy goes in, I just take the cover off. Disks are cheap.

Thanks for the replies. I rung the dude at Dynamic computers but he only has a new one at around ten billion dollars.
He said he would keep a lookout for one to wreck, good lad

251822 2004-07-14 00:21:00 This an external toshiba floppy drive ? the highlander (245)
251823 2004-07-14 02:41:00 If you have to have a floppydrive, a USB external one might be cheaper than the real spare part. An extra thing to carry can be a nuisance ...but. ;-) Graham L (2)

251825 2004-07-14 08:02:00 I bought a USB floppy drive with my toshiba lappy a month or so back, cost about $90+. Does the trick, seems to be a whole heap slower than an internal drive though, does this sound right? Anyone?

251826 2004-07-14 09:35:00 I think an external fdd would be a pain as this laptop is pretty mobile gets dragged from truck to home several times a day.
I am using a usb memory card but i cant get my memory card to work on my w98se home pc.
Pain in the bum I have to email the files from my laptop to pc and they are only a few meters away.

251827 2004-07-14 10:07:00 why not put a network card in your win98 pc? laptop will probably have one already. that will make swapping files a piece of cake miknz (3731)
