My thumbdrive is now partitioned: 64MB vfat primary partition 68MB ext2 256-bit AES-encrypted primary partition But after all the FAT's, it works out at 61 and 62MB respectively. Totally painless. Windows XP on the Family's PC picks up the vfat partition fine, and in the Disk Management thingy-whatsit (Right-Click on My Computer and choose Manage) it see's that there's an unknown partition. Of course its unknown because for starters its Ext2, secondly its 256-bit AES encrypted :-D Anyways, Im very happy! I followed: www.tldp.org Except I didnt have to patch util-linux :-) Now... An encrypted /home partition is next on the list ;-) *I wonder how much my Digital Camera would complain if I made it ext2 :p Cheers Chill. |

It's possible to have encrpyted files which are protected from everyone Accidents happen. Especially when there are protection mechanisms. Keys on the same medium are one prime accident eaget to hap;pen. The camera probably wouldn't complain. It might just stop working. |

I'll be manually mounting /home by adding a line into /etc/conf.d/local.start The / and /home partition will both be reiser4, and Im gonna have to sort out a lookback fs for /var of some sort because reiser4 dies when using Apache2 and mod_php apparently. Basically if I lock myself out, I can boot the Love-LiveCDv2 which uses kernel-2.6.7-redeeman-r2 IIRC, and Ive grabbed kerenel config from /proc and it supports encryption :-) Of course the camera wont work - It can only read FAT12. I knew this, but just for the sake of it I formatted it FAT32 and it didnt read it :D The world is my oyster.... Chill. |
