251786 2004-07-13 03:34:00 I feel the need to defend myself.

I got his info from someone who worked there - and he ain't one to lie.
However, I didn't mean the WHOLE barcode, i meant the last few digits. And having gone in there and seen a few, it's understandable.

And as far as the Harvey Norman near me, they put their own barcodes on.

Same here :) I will wait and go down myself to check sometime soon...

251788 2004-07-13 04:28:00 Bond and Bond will better any price you can find, they advertise this everywhere. I have bought a couple of printers from them, one of them I got over 70 bucks off as they had to beat Dick Smith.

251789 2004-07-13 05:03:00 Of course you can't return something just because you don't like it/changed your mind. As Graham has also said, returns & money back guarantees only apply if there is something wrong with the product, or the seller advised/warranted that it would do something that you later find it can't,

It is up to the buyer to chose wisely, unless a trial period is agreed.

It's a bit like marriage really!

:o Could this be a new tradition, marrying, but agreeing on a trial period of say, 2 months :p

Anyway, just being on the phone to speak with a Dick Smith guy to neogoiate on ones behalf for an PC system. The guy is only taking $50 off its store demo system!?! I would have thought they would sell under cost price!?! It was the last one thats why...

251791 2004-07-14 02:04:00 By the way, the system is a Acer Aspire RC500 Entertainment Centre. It's a Celeron 2.6Ghz, 256DDR Ram, 40GB, CD-RW, etc.

Yes! The person is aware that it is a Celeron -he does nothing more than type and surf the net and occasional music. The reason why I have helped him choose this system is because he wanted a 'brand' PC (god knows why!) and an inbuilt TV capture card if possible -all without breaking the bank.

251792 2004-07-14 02:48:00 I wouldn't touch a DSE computer with a 20m pole. How much are they asking for that machine?

Build him one yourself ~sy~ you have the skills and you'll save a lot of $.

Hehe, I wish. It's not for me! As mentioned, he wants a brand PC (e.g. Acer, HP, Compaq, etc.) DSE is just selling it, it's an Acer Aspire RC500 -its been off the DSE online catalogue since yesterday. They want $800 for a shop demo, from the orgininal clearance price of $850 for everything but the monitor.

251794 2004-07-14 04:46:00 Where was I seeing something similiar. Bond n Bond brochure perhaps. Similiar spec computer (Dell) with monitor, speakers, kb and mouse for <$900 even cheaper than those warehouse PCs. kiki (762)
251795 2004-07-14 04:50:00 really!?! Can't be Bond and Bond. They don't deal with Dell (or I don't remember them doing so anyway). I would be really interested to find out. By the way, does that include GST? ~~~~~ s y ~~~~~ (2054)
