Get it working, and it will be easier than floppies. If it's a Disk Smith one, you can download the driver from their web site (look for the product, use the "more..."link), otherwise Google with "name_of_thing W98 download" should get you going. | Graham L (2)
| 251829 | 2004-07-16 04:04:00 | Man have I tried to get it to work on w98se. It is a Secure Digital pocket reader it is made in Nationalist China. Come with cd with drivers but it still wont work. It has a green led which lights when you plug it in, its never lit up on 98. Yep worked straight off in xp but its a rabbit edition which came with laptop I bought on trademe. I will buy xp and install it after I walk through hell with a bucket of petrol tedheath tedheath |

I've got a 64MB one, and it works on W98 with the DSE software. You don't have to use it as an MP3 player --- it works just fine as a portable disk --- I've even made it into a Windows/Linux one. | Graham L (2)
| 251831 | 2004-07-16 04:15:00 | If the light aint showing up then there is no power, which would mean a dead usb port or one that aint providing the required power. Your options are limited..... |

| 251836 | 2004-07-16 22:04:00 | When the computer was first started, 98 recognized the reader. In explorer there it is removable disk D click on it and it comes up with D not accessible. tedheath |

If yiou have had it on an XP machine, it might have been formatted as NTFS, and W98 doesn't understand that. This might be unlikely, but might be possible. I don't know. ;-) Power shouldn't be a problem. A memory device would run on a wet matchhead. |
