| 251855 | 2004-07-12 12:21:00 | Hello, I am using windows xp and I have installed the chinese language support. I have just recently downloaded a chinese program but I have a problem as the chinese characters don't show up properly. They only show up as question marks not as chinese characters. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou Michael |

| 251857 | 2004-07-12 20:11:00 | Unfortunately I believe that the IME (international language support) is only compatible with microsoft products ie MSOFFICE or applications that use the Microsoft IME (of which your downloaded program appears not too). Also there are different versions of the Chinese language installable through the microsoft IME that is inbuilt into windows XP ( singapore chinese (mandarin I think)and others, cant remember the others sorry) install the other Chinese language sets see if that makes a difference. I suspect how ever my first statement is true your downloaded app does not support the microsoft IME. |

| 251858 | 2004-07-12 20:21:00 | if you are interested in a freeware Japanese text editor try here (zsigri.tripod.com) I have used it with no problems as you have desribed in 98 which has no installable support for (as an OS) other lanauges. However you can download a ime for your version of office (if still available). One last thought are you changing the system lanuage when using this app, look down in task bar if seconadary lanuage installed there should be a blue "E" there (english, your primary lanauge) click on that you should then be able to change your keybaord lanuage |

Beama - I tried installing the other chinese language but the text in the setup still show up as question marks. I also tried changing the system language during the setup but that did not work either. I don't understand about the freeware Japanese text editor. The version of office Ithat I have is 'Office Xp'. Any other solutions? Thankyou for all you help. |

Then find the language bar (either floating at the top of your screen, or down on your start bar), and change the language to either "Chinese Simplified" (for programs from China), or "Chinese Traditional" (for programs from Taiwan or some other Chinese-speaking countries). | somebody (208) | ||
