1366167 2014-01-26 08:06:00 Greetings
What is a good router for home wifi use ? Setting up a new install .. a laptop , couple of cellphones, tablet.
Is the standard telecom router issued okay ?
Running off standard telecom homeline broadband. No major gaming or video usage envisaged.
Thanks

1366168 2014-01-26 10:46:00 Hey mate, welcome to PF1!

To be honest the Telecom routers are mediocre at best IMO. Quite often after loading up a few devices the load will either kill it, or DHCP will stop giving leases...

Go future proof yourself and head in the direction of like a DrayTek DV2760n, or of you're a tinkerer you could go for a DV130, then a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND running Gargoyle firmware 😀

1366174 2014-02-02 01:58:00 I have received the standard Telecom issue Thomson TG582N.
So far so good 6 units operating off wifi .. low level

1366175 2014-02-02 04:26:00 I'd go with the Thomson unless you find it doesn't do what you need. Save money that way... Agent_24 (57)
1366176 2014-02-02 08:15:00 Just stick with Telecom's if it's not giving you any problems. Of course, if you've extra money to spend, that's a different story.

I've many friends using Telecom's free router without any problem.
