| 1366107 | 2014-01-25 08:12:00 | Hi all I've struck a problem with a file that won't open. It belongs to a shoot program for scoring, grades, etc, ... from what I can gather, the guy tried to save it to a flash drive that didn't have enough free space available and it didn't work (obviously), but for some reason it seems to have wiped or corrupted the program itself and none of the existing files can't be opened either, even after re-installing the program. Tried Recuva etc. still no luck. Think this one may be over my pay grade ... I've put some of the pop-ups I'm getting, so if anyone can tell me whether it may still be recoverable and how, I'd really appreciate it. 550955105511 TIA SP8's |

Because we were running it off a USB Flash drive instead of our usual computer (long story but the comp isn't connected to the net at the club) we couldn't print squad / score sheets. Whether there was something on the USB drive that corrupted everything, that's why I put the thumbnails on the OP, hoping that someone could tell us what we did, or what happened to corrupt the program / files so that we can avoid it happening again. I should also add that the USB drive was scanned with NOD32 etc. and everything was clean ... the lappy we're not too sure about as it was borrowed at short notice. | SP8's (9836) | ||
| 1366110 | 2014-01-26 19:51:00 | The second and third attachments give some clues... it's looking for files / folders where they don't exist. Here's my take on the scenario... Instead of copying the Installation package (ie the downloaded installer) onto the USB drive, and then installing it onto the non-networked computer, it's been copied by loading the files/folders off an existing installation on C drive, then being run from a different location (USB drive), and there's a config file among them that is still pointing to C drive! Suggestion: Either install it properly via the Installer, or find the config/ini file on the USB drive that is pointing to the wrong paths, and edit it to point to the USB drive (note though that the drive letter assigned to the USB will not necessarily always be E or F or whatever. |
