1346212 2013-06-18 21:00:00 Goodbye cruel, cruel world...
PC World isn't that cruel, and between Jan & Jen, we have been given enough reason to believe we won't be saying goodbye quite as soon as we thought.

1346214 2013-06-18 21:40:00 Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury PressF1, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with PressF1.

No, I meant that the world is cruel for taking (maybe?) the forum away from me. I have enjoyed reading and sometimes even commenting on the posts.

The evil that women do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with PressF1.

Corrected :devil

(and no, I don't include Jen :) )

1346218 2013-06-19 00:04:00 Babies haven't any hair,
Old men's heads are just as bare -
Between the cradle and the grave
Lies a haircut and a shave.
- Samuel Hoffenstein, Songs of Faith in the Year after Next

Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.
- George Eliot, Theophrastus Such

A couple of quotes that I thought might be apt here at this time - the first one because of the humour and the second which may make some people think before they post.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the other side.

1346220 2013-06-19 01:32:00 I'm porous with travel fever
But you know I'm so glad to be on my own
Still somehow the slightest touch of a stranger
Can set up trembling in my bones
I know no one's going to show me everything
We all come and go unknown
Each so deep and superficial
Between the forceps and the stone

Joni Mitchell

and:

The last time I saw Richard was Detroit in '68,
And he told me all romantics meet the same fate someday
Cynical and drunk and boring someone in some dark cafe
You laugh, he said, you think you're immune, go look at your eyes
They're full of moon
You like roses and kisses and pretty men to tell you
All those pretty lies, pretty lies
When you gonna realize they're only pretty lies
Only pretty lies, just pretty lies

He put a quarter in the Wurlitzer, and he pushed
Three buttons and the thing began to whir
And a bar maid came by in fishnet stockings and a bow tie
And she said 'Drink up now it's gettin' on time to close.'
'Richard, you haven't really changed,' I said
It's just that now you're romanticizing some pain that's in your head
You got tombs in your eyes, but the songs
You punched are dreaming
Listen, they sing of love so sweet, love so sweet
When you gonna get yourself back on your feet?
Oh and love can be so sweet, love so sweet

Richard got married to a figure skater
And he bought her a dishwasher and a coffee percolator
And he drinks at home now most nights with the teevee on
And all the house lights left up bright
I'm gonna blow this damn candle out
I don't want nobody comin' over to my table
I got nothing to talk to anybody about
All good dreamers pass this way some day
Hidin' behind bottles in dark cafes
Dark cafes
Only a dark cocoon before I get my gorgeous wings
And fly away
Only a phase, these dark cafe days

Out on some borderline
Some mark of inbetween
I lay down golden in time
And woke up vanishing

Sweet bird you are
Briefer than a falling star
All these vain promises on beauty jars
Somewhere with your wings on time
You must be laughing
Behind our eyes
Calendars of our lives
Circled with compromise
Sweet bird of time and change
You must be laughing
Up on your feathers laughing

Golden in time
Cities under the sand
Power ideals and beauty
Fading in everyone's hand

Give me some time
I feel like I'm losing mine
Out here on this horizon line
With the earth spinning
And the sky forever rushing
