2014-01-29 01:17:00 | That first error ( Source: Disk) can sometimes also mean the HDD has faults, meaning its failing. (BUT not always). You can always run a disk checker through it to see what shows. | wainuitech (129) | |
2014-01-29 02:14:00 | Just updated the BIOS it was 9 BIOS versions behind. Updated the NIC and wireless drivers. (Hopefully) it's rebooting or shut down. Let's see if it crashes again now. One (possible) cause is Norton Internet Security. Haven't removed it yet to find out, if this is the cause | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2014-01-29 07:32:00 | Uninstalled Nortons, used the removal tool. And did a scan with Mbam. Didnt find out if there were any nasties. NZHawk had to go about 5. I think I finished what I had to do about 4.20-30. Just have to wait for a while to see if it crashes again | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2014-01-29 21:03:00 | good morning ~ results of the MBAM scan 1 pup (PUP.Optional.DataMngr.A); no crashes as of yet. wainuitech ~ I sense that reinstalling Norton Internet Security isn't recommended? FYI: also ran the disk checker (seatools) : all ok passed

One thing I've found in the past is if you have a program either Norton, McAfee, Trend, AVG installed, no matter how much you try you cant get it all 100% out. Every time in the past when a customer has had one of the above listed AV/Security and they insist I put it back ( against better judgement) within a very short time, anywhere from 1 day onwards, the same corruption, or similar occurs again. I suspect its due to left overs or changes in the system files caused by the program. :2cents: |

2014-01-30 02:27:00 | wainuitech any experience with NOD32 causing any problems? Only one or two. Usually caused by other programs or something going on in the background that made it turn turtle. The couple of times I've seen that I've uninstalled it, then put it back and its run fine again. Funny Story: One "problem" a person had is he called me back insisting I remove Nod, when asked what's it doing, he said in a serious voice its blocking all his porn sites (I tried not to laugh) -- Then he said, hang on got an idea -I'll call you back - following day he's happy as, what he was doing is disabling Nod, doing what ever then turning it back on and scanning to remove any thing that got in ----- okkkayyyyyy.
