2014-01-22 00:44:00 | Interesting comment here about being painful to install, is that true ? ... Errrrr no, piece of cake, double click the exe file, agree to the t&C, click Next roughly 3-4 times ( didn't actually count them) and in it went. When first runs it auto tests the connections. When you run it you have two options (Tabs) Access & Share. The person doing the controlling would use Access, and enters in the numbers of the shared Connection ( person being helped) The helper clicks Connect, person at other end clicks accept and away you go. Keep in mind I was only trying the Free version as a test, so the pro may be slightly different. ( may give you permanent numbers/ID etc)

2014-01-22 00:51:00 | Sounds like a plan, I'll try the Chrome stuff tonight! :D Please do - :) just looked earlier today, BUT a few things: 1. You need a google account 2. You may have to install Chrome ( not everyone will or likes it) or allowed to install it. 3. To install it, you’ll need to download and unzip the app to a folder, enable support for experimental extensions in chrome://flags, check the “developer mode” box in chrome://extensions, and choose the “load unpacked extension” option and navigate to the folder where you unzipped the app. Hope the end user doesn't have to do all that -- it would be WTF --- Some would be, lost me after download ??? :waughh:

2014-01-22 03:57:00 | Just did a search and found quite a few free remotes, one that I just tried - works brilliant is THIS ONE (www.remote-control-desktop.com) - Its FREE for both private and Business usage, doesn't need to install, and you can make donations if you want. You simply download the admin exe if you are the one doing the help, and the person accepting help downloads the "user" The Admin gets the number from the User and away you go. It actually uses Ultra VNC Viewer & Secure remote server. If you want the full Pro versions its so cheap why wouldn't you :) check out the pricing.

2014-01-23 19:02:00 | Meanwhile, a bit of good news ... RealVNC Android app dropped from US$9.99 to FREE, yippee ... www.androidpolice.com Free is always good. I looked a bit deeper into the one I linked in last post imPcRemote Its getting some very good reviews. Lots more people are going to be looking for an alternative since logmein dumped the free one. The imPcRemote is really easy to use, even the permanent remote so you can log in without someone having to be there, and for its price if you want unlimited users its dirt cheap $29 US a year, the only negitives I've seen is it doesn't have some of the more real techinical features some higher priced ones do, Does have secure connections, file transfer and normal working on the desktop - but it uses Ultra VNC anyway. With the VNC App and client you still have to configure things, like opening ports etc. Using VNC requires a bit more configuration, but it can be a powerful tool. But what ever floats a persons boat a guess. Wait for some smart comment --- Water :D

2014-01-23 19:54:00 | Tried the Chromoting tool, it's kinda cool. Works fast, good quality. Stupid coz there's no "auto scrolling" of your window when you move your mouse to the edge of it, so you've gotta manually scroll if your screen is smaller resolution than the one you're using. Either that or it zooms and "shrinks to fit" which is nice, unless you have two monitors on the machine you're controlling, which is _really_ stupid. Still, for an initial release, requires _very_ little config to get it up and going, and it's free... So I'm good with that :D No Android app for it yet though :(

| 1365748 | 2014-01-24 04:57:00 | Couldn't get the experimental version to work, the add computer option never showed up. But it appears Google has now released it in the web store ... chrome.google.com Seems to work very well, log into gmail, download the app on the computer to be remote controlled, add the computer. Log into the computer doing the remote control with the same GMail account and you can remote control the computer from right within the browser. Very cool! And like Chill said, it is quick and good quality, better than VNC or RDP, well, much simpler now that you can just add the app from the web store. I guess one down side is that you will need to have access to the same Gmail account on both PCs. If the person happen his/her own Gmail account already on that PC, he/she will need to sign out of their own account and then sign into this "shared" Gmail account for this remote access, could get a bit confusing.
