252461 2004-07-15 06:21:00 I'm compiling research into PC parts prices and how the vary between brands and type and grunt etc - and it turns out that the cheapest HDD per gigabyte is the 160GBs (lots of factors came into play).

However, you can find the best prices here. (http://www.pricespy.co.nz)

252462 2004-07-15 06:33:00 For an IDE drive you should also take into account rotational speed (7200rpm) and cache (2mb min but prefer 8mb - although these are more expensive). Plus remember that with cheap componentry you get what you pay for. andrew93 (249)
252463 2004-07-15 06:37:00 160 gig sounds great comparied to my measly 60gig Mirddes (10)
252464 2004-07-15 08:24:00 $150 will get you an entry-standard 120GB 7200rpm 2mb cache Hard Drive. If I were you, I'd save a bit more, and get a 160GB.

Mind you, I still use a 6Gb HDD, main family computer has a 17GB, although only <6 is used. One Win98 PC is still living happily with 2GB. I don't understand how you need so much..... Yes! I know it's games and videos.. and music.. and.... argh! Forget it...!
