252388 2004-07-14 22:53:00 Interesting problem in Win98. Sound from the speakers is noticeably lower from the left speaker. Have done the following checks.

New speakers
New sound card
New cable from CD-ROM, New CD-ROM,
Problem also occurs while playing back from the hard-drive
Checked all cross faders that I could find

Problem still present on all checks.

Any ideas on whether this is just a software issue or some other area of hardware?

Thanks - Pazzin

252389 2004-07-14 22:57:00 um......your balance will be to far to one side, this can be altered by such things as media players especially winamp and wmp,They will reset it off kilter even if you go into the audio advanced properties within Windows and stick it in the center. metla (154)
252390 2004-07-15 00:19:00 Hi there

Those were the first things I tested before starting down the hardware track, balances/cross faders. Could be a palyer I'm missing somewhere I guess.

Thanks - Pazzin

252393 2004-07-15 02:16:00 After checking/replacing s/card/speakers/vol control settings without finding the problem, the only thing left to examine is whether you are slightly deaf in one ear :) Terry Porritt (14)

252395 2004-07-15 23:48:00 Tried another Win98 hard-drive and worked fine so appears that Windows or another piece of software is causing the issue. Couldn't find any additional media players that could be causing the problem so will do a re-install and see how that goes. Pazzin (5084)
252396 2004-07-19 00:19:00 Did find Winamp on the PC, uninstalled and checked faders in media player and windows again, all looked ok and still the same problem.

Upgraded win media player and still same problem.

Went back to the crossfaders/balance settings for one last look and after the media player install five of them were noticebly to the right. Adjusted back and now fine. Appears that they had been affected even though they appeared fine on screen and adjusting them had made no difference.

Thanks to metla for sending me down the right track.
