| 252149 | 2004-07-14 00:29:00 | Adding on from what Davesdad said, sometimes on the motherboard there is a "Sys Fan" or "Case fan" connector, usually just 2 or 3 pins sticking out. That will provide 12v for you cooling fan, but you'll have to read your motherboard manual to figure out where it is and which pin is which. | somebody (208) | ||

| 252151 | 2004-07-14 11:59:00 | Should be three pins in a straight line set on a white plastic with a raised tab on one side so that the fan power connector socket can only go in one way. If you are using a three wire fan then the MB can detect the fan speed, though a fan with two wires will still work okay. Last board I brought had only one connector for the CPU fan, so brought one of the Dick Smith connectors so the case fan could run directly from the power supply. Some fans can only be plugged into the Power supply anyway as they only have a molex power connecter (as used by the CD-Rom). |

| 252154 | 2004-07-15 00:10:00 | My case side fan connects directly to a spare power lead directly from the PSU - I woulda thought a new fan could be connected directly like this | Greg S (201) | ||
