2004-07-14 09:11:00 | Oh Bollocks, I was at soccer practice. Maybe I should give SY a prize. Want a phone? robo.

2004-07-14 09:15:00 | You could be 249.999 SY, I was refreshing at less than 10 second intervals (full Jetstream connection), I saw 249,998 appear, then next came 249,999, and within 10 seconds of that I had posted and refreshed to see 250,000 on my congrats post. It was either you or Mrs Bump, I didn't have time to look right then. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2004-07-14 09:45:00 | Damn, I can't win. I just tried all sorts of admin tools and I can't tell who it was. I think it was SY though. Quarter of a million is pretty scary. If you do the numbers, it means some people have posted over 2% of posts on their own (you know who you are). Even those with counters around 2,000 are nearly 1%. I thought the 250,000th post was a good excuse for giving out a prize, but didn't want to say it because then people would try to get it. What do you all think, shall I give it to SY? robo.

2004-07-14 09:53:00 | Yeah, assuming he wants a netphone. They are quite good, save heaps on tolls. I liked it so much I bought one (aren't I nice, I didn't keep one for myself). Now I have to scrabble around for some other goodies to give away. robo.

2004-07-14 09:55:00 | Thanks guys, but I have discovered that I am unable to pay for the calls I make, neither will my parents want to :_| And being the teenager I am, we text -I thought it was a cellphone, hehe, I'm saving up for one. Made me all excited!... I say give it to someone who would benefit more :D

2004-07-14 10:30:00 | I'm sorry I'm going to repeat myself. How do you tell which is the 250,000th post??? If you have the thread map on and you hover over one of the links to a post, they have the number of the post there (#290291). According to that we are at over 290,000 posts. They jump too, if you look at the thread map. Its clearly counting posts from all the threads. #290148, #290153, #290155...

Don't apologise kiki, it's just that nobody really cares that much about your question. The post count visible to all is the only one that matters, and doubtlessly there are a number of possible explanations for the variance. One of the more likely reasons would be the archived posts from before this format was introduced. I may be wrong on this, but I think that they are the ones that come up with "Guest" as the poster. I'd have to call one up and check the date to confirm that, but I can't really be bothered right now. If that is indeed the reason, 250,000 would have been the number of posts since the new format went live. It is all irrelevant now, we are past it and moving on to the next milestone.
