252400 2004-07-15 00:59:00 See, I have a mpeg video file that I recently downloaded which I am trying to put it onto a VCD using Nero. The first thing that Nero does is to encode the video file but when it gets to 37% of encoding it just freezes. I left it for another hour but the progress was still at 37%.
I also tried to make a VCD using Cyberlink Powerproducer but it also stopped at 37% of rendering the file.
I have tried doing it several times but it always fails at 37%.
Does anybody have any solutions?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou
Michael

Try re-encoding the file with another program into a VCD-Compliant format first. I'd say the file may be corrupt.

The fact that it stops at 37% does indicate that it is corrupt.

252403 2004-07-15 01:35:00 Indeed, the file has a hiccup at 37 percent,Try running it through virtual dub as that can in many cases recorgnise the issue and take steps to rectify it.

There are more specialised whys of doing it,probally a bit too invoved at this stage though.

252405 2004-07-15 02:09:00 Do I just play the file in virtualdub? michael8 (1529)
252406 2004-07-15 02:13:00 Thats the first step,Try and play it,if luck is on your side it will see the defect and go through the process of repairing it.

Otherwise you could use it to re-encode the file, although for that i would suggest Tmpgenc as that automaticly locks the output into the mpeg standard, with virtual dub you would need to assign the codec and bitrate for video aan audio as well as the resolution.

252407 2004-07-17 01:08:00 I played it through virtualdub but it did not say that there were any errors. michael8 (1529)
252408 2004-07-17 01:12:00 Follow Metlas suggestion.

Re-Encode it and try burning it. My money says it'll burn.

Chill.
