252253 2004-07-14 06:17:00 As regards Woosh wireless Internet connection, do we have to use their modem or we can use any others? Any idea how stable their connection is? Will there be any interruption in extreme weather conditions, like heavy rain, thunder, lightning, etc?

Cheers

252255 2004-07-14 09:08:00 i get better signal in bad weather believe it or not ,.never had the line dropped once and im in a bad area.you only need 10 percent of the signal to get speeds they sell the product on. ferrite (4221)
252256 2004-07-14 09:22:00 Yep, we have to use their modem to use their service, but we don't have to use their software that comes with the modem to dial in etc. The standard windows connect does it better and faster.
Weather doesn't seem to be a problem here, the neighbour's furniture truck parked outside my window is not helpful though.
The speeds are good, and the connect time is a pleasure, if you want to play games - bad news. Large file downloads - great - and uploads - great.
Ergonomics of the modem - not a very high score, but it is easy to cart about.

You mean, Windows will detect and install the necessary driver or software to get connected?

Cheers

Sorry, not too clear there ;
I used the install CD, but I connect with the regular windows link in "Show all connections" - it saves the waiting for the Woosh VB dialler interface (but it does show the battery state :-) )
The Woosh software is handy for the initial log-in on set-up, but after a very few times it becomes a little tedious and slow for my taste.

True. You must upgrade and get a WRT54GS, flash with Sveasoft firmware and boost that Woosh connection to its potential!

252260 2004-07-14 11:10:00 the new modems dont give u much info regarding signal quality,on the modem itself like the one u must have.the new ones have all the info on screen. ferrite (4221)
252261 2004-07-14 11:47:00 I wish they'd hurry up with that firmware flash so we can get the latency lower!

Also I see they have the new modems now, anything particularly special about them?

252262 2004-07-14 12:07:00 Is it true that they have two options, one is USB modem and the other is Ethernet modem? bk T (215)
