252680 2004-07-16 02:06:00 This might be a dumb question. I notice that when some postees are replying to another post and highlight the text that they wish to comment on in a different colour to their post, how is this done ? heaton (3697)
252681 2004-07-16 02:19:00 Two ways - click on the "Quote Original" link in the Reply page which will bring up all the text in the other post that you are replying to. You can then delete the text that you don't require.

Secondly, you can copy the text you wish to refer to and paste it into the Reply box then put a "greater than" symbol, eg > at the start of the text. If you put more than one "greater than" symbol the text colour changes again depending on how many you have.

eg
> One makes it purple

>> Two makes it green

>>> Three makes it blue, etc etc

252682 2004-07-16 02:22:00 If you click on the "Quote original" above where you enter your reply you get this:

Using the bits from "Formatting Options" like the bold one does this:

252685 2004-07-17 07:25:00 And if you use the quote function to quote a post that already has quotes in it they get the extra > added to change the colour automatically so that each successive quote is a different colour like this:
