2004-07-18 08:40:00 | I tried to connect to Cool Blue but Zone Alarm V5.0 blocked access saying that - >>> ZoneAlarm blocked traffic to port 2662 on your machine from port 5004 on a remote computer whose IP address is 202.8.44.36. This communication attempt may have been a port scan, or simply one of the millions of unsolicited commercial or network control messages that are routinely sent out over the Internet. Such unsolicited messages are often called Internet background noise. > Media Player V 9.0 said that stopped the process. I have tried to find how I can tell Zone Alarm to identify contact from that IP address as "good", but there does not seem to be a way of doing that ! I have Windows ME and Mozilla Firefox V9.0 Misty X-(

2004-07-18 11:03:00 | Coolblue is working still for me. try this in zone alarm check In Program Control, click on the Programs tab, under the help button. Here you can see what programs Zone Alarm will allow to have access, to the internet. You will see green check marks in the programs that it will allow access. The programs with the dark blue question marks, will ask for your permission to get access. (If it's a program that you will be using often you can configure Zone Alarm to remember your permission or to block when you are prompted later). The red X's are programs that are blocked from gaining access. Review all the programs and settings. You can make changes here by left clicking on the X's, question marks, or the checkmarks, to set your preferences.

2004-07-18 11:07:00 | I tried ZA v5.0 but found it a bit like a racing bike seat - a pain in the butt. I chucked it out and restored v4.5 and am not tempted to stray again. v5 had quite a few deficiencies and bugs, it has got too bloated now. I am listening to "Stay Away From Bill" on Cool Blue right now, with Zone Alarm 4.5 xx. running (you need to enable access for windows media player) R2

2004-07-18 20:41:00 | Once you've worked out how to create the rules, you want to allow incoming udp packets from any local port to any remote port for IP's 203.118.144.36 and 202.8.44.36 and allow outgoing tcp packets from any local port to any remote port for 202.8.44.36, for Media Player | Greg S (201) | |
2004-07-19 09:07:00 | Thanks Johnboy and Greg I followed Johnboy's instructions and am now listening to "Cool Blue" - pure heaven !! :D I have managed to somewhat follow your instructions too, Greg. I have given access to 202.8.44.36 Media Player - initially for "Trusted" but then quickly upgraded to "Internet" - there did not seem to be any differentiation in my version between incoming and outgoing. But what is IP 203.118.144.36 please ? Did I say it was great to have "Cool Blue" again ? !!!!! :D Misty

2004-07-19 09:41:00 | Hi Greg I think I have worked out what IP 203.118.144.36 is. I did a search and on some website called nznog it said "l1.r2.co.nz ". Since r2 is the outfit that is funding "Cool Blue" they must be Good Guys. You had given me the info anyway, but it is still wise to know not only what I am doing but also for me to be able to put a description so I know in six months time why I gave certain rights to that IP address. Many thanks Misty :)
