253264 2004-07-18 07:04:00 Hi, this is not much to do with PCs so I apologize for posting a message off the topic that should be discussed.

I purchased a new Nokia 6600 Phone that came with a 32mb MMC Card, which can be put into my laptop. I intend to use this memory card to store ringtones, pictures etc.

When I check the MMC Card on the laptop there is a hidden folder called system on the MMC chip that contains several folders, one of them is Apps. This hidden folder takes 18.3 mb out of the available 32mb.

When I insert the chip into my 6600 phone extra things appear in the menu, things like " cnn Live installation" and several other applications.

I would like this 18.3 mb freed up, which means to delete the hidden folder from my laptop. But is it safe to delete this folder? Or should i only delete certains contents of the folder?

Please Advise on what I should do to free up this space and not make my MMC card not work?

Cheers

253265 2004-07-18 07:19:00 Make a back up of whats on the card first, delete its contents, then try to it in the phone. Make sure you get EVERYTHING on the card for the back up. Dont blame me if it breakes :-D. fus1_n (3818)
253266 2004-07-18 07:53:00 It wouldn't even let me copy the files, :( Big_Mountain (4623)
253267 2004-07-19 04:00:00 Try changing the attributes of the directories. They probably have the "system" and "hidden" attributes set at least. Just be grateful they won't have the nice *nix "immutable" attribute. :D Graham L (2)
