253099 2004-07-17 18:36:00 I have Pentium-S PC. Have installed another Quantum Fireball HDD. System did not find it. Where to find any guide how to do it?
Thanks for any ideas.

You need to go to www.maxtor.com who are now providing support for Quantum HDs. There you'll find some information specific to your drive.

You should give us more information so we can help better:

Is the drive intended to be bootable? Or additional storage?

What, if anything, have you done to prepare the drive?

Second - master should be on the end of the cable - slave in the middle plug. I always thought it didn't matter, until yesterday when putting another HD in, it did not find either drives with the cable other way round.

253102 2004-07-17 23:23:00 Does it show up in the bios? Usually if it shows in the Bios but not in windows, it hasn't been formatted.
Just a thought.

Doesn't matter unless using the cable select jumper. You must have accidently set one of the jumpers to cable select instead of master/slave.
On one new hard drive recently even using a magnifying glass I had trouble determining the master/ slave configuration

253104 2004-07-18 05:29:00 Hi there! Thanks to everybody. It is fixed! The jumper was in the wrong place, first. Then I went to BIOS setup and found HDD autodetection. The new drive was there and had to be enabled as the first slave.
Regards.
