253073 2004-07-17 13:35:00 Hi, I have three problems with terminal services, one of which doesn't matter much but might be the cause of the other two.

First, the server running TS has Win2k Advanced Server running, and the clients have XP Pro.

Earlier today when I had XP-Home (before formatting a computer) it could log on to TS perfectly using Remote Desktop Connection. But now with XP Professional, when I click connect, it loads, but what comes up is a Windows 2003 Server connection screen:O, and NO domain box (ie. JGI-NET or This Computer). It only has UserName and Password box. I don't have ANY computers with Win2003 anything. And, no accounts work, Domain or local to the server (like Administrator). The server works fine or I wouldn't be able to be using my XP machine right now, but what is wrong with the terminal services?

I've tried typing a domain in the box when you click [More->] but it has no effect.

253074 2004-07-17 13:43:00 New Information:

The exact same thing happens when I type in ANY computer name, even if it doesn't exist. It thinks it's Win2003 Server Standard Edition and won't let you log in under any name at all. All clicking More does is show or hide the (disabled) 'Shut Down' button.

253075 2004-07-17 13:49:00 And oh, BTW this happens on all computers trying to connect, and on a sidenote, I don't know what it logges onto because it's certainly not my server and it *still* makes the 100mbit conn lights flash like crazy. I don't yet know if only my computer has activity (ie. is it just shouting at the router and going nowhere or is it actually talking to the server?) I'll find out tomorrow.

253076 2004-07-18 09:36:00 Sorry guys, I have solved the problem. It turns out that it was actually a naming conflict. It added my domain (jgih.com) on to the server name to make jg-srv001.jgih.com, which actually was www.jgih.com's mail server. Typing 10.0.0.3 fixed it. george12 (7)
