| 253302 | 2004-07-18 11:04:00 | Ok so that comes to $4861 if I calculate correctly. You want to think about moving up to AMD 64bit? Or that price would buy a nice P4 system. |

| 253303 | 2004-07-18 11:37:00 | Philips has a better "Bad Pixel" warranty than Viewsonic. I started a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. Can give you details if I can still find them on my old PC (have just upgraded). Whatever LCD monitor you get, tell the store that you want to check the screen for dead/bright/bad pixels before paying and taking it out of their shop. If they will not agree to this, buy somewhere else. |

I added in the cost of the headset. And I'm not going for 64bit because the performance increase is negligible unless I get the FX-53 which is expensive. |

If the total price really is $4800, it looks to be too expensive for what you are getting. Check atech.co.nz (where I bought my new PC a couple of weeks ago) and pbtech.co.nz Monitor: Go for a Philips 170B (not the 'S' series which do not have as good specs and pixel warranty). The 170B has a refresh (? or whatever it is called) rate of 16ms - some LCD monitors have 20 - 25 ms. The 170B also has built in speakers which I do not use now but may come in handy sometime. |
