2004-07-19 06:47:00 | Does anyone know of a Births, Deaths & Marriages Free Site for Boston USA?. Similar to the FreeBDM of the UK?. Have tried Google & Jeeves to no avail. Thanks. PJ | Poppa John (284) | |
2004-07-19 08:20:00 | Hello PJ. I think the only free one is LDS Family Search, but I guess you have already exhausted that one. You may have to go to www.ci.boston.ma.us and pay up ! Cheers Tony

2004-07-19 09:39:00 | Hi PJ.Just registered with the General Register Office,England. Thanks for that FreeBMD site!Have found my Mother's grandparents and am trying to request a marriage cert, but can't seem to log in to the GRO.Perhaps I have to give them time to accept my registration details? Just started using Legacy 5 Deluxe Family Tree instead of an older Family Tree Maker program, and love it.Well, looks like I'll try the GRo later!

2004-07-19 20:39:00 | Thanks Tony for that site,I'll have a read through tonight.PJ,I was thinking of the FreeBMD site, but I think Tony's given me a lead in for NZ.Have been communicating with a distant cousin, well not too distant when you see how the small communities back in the early 1900's in NZ married everyones brother or sister!!!And he's pointed out a few --am I allowed to say dark?--goings on.So have been altering the family tree lately, and need to find out who's who. | Neil McC (178) | |
2004-07-19 22:11:00 | Neil. I haven't done a lot of research in NZ. As far as I know there is NO FreeBDM NZ. You can go to anytown BDM for a local cert, If the records are still there & have not been transferred to wellington. Some towns just sent the lot, lock stock & barrel. Some copied it all first. (Found this out in Thames). Wellington is the main depository for BDM, Auckland also has a coutry wide copy of everythiing. The library, if big enough, may have NZ microfiche records for NZ. As will LDS, local genio Society, maybe. Good luck with your hunt. PJ | Poppa John (284) | |
