| 254096 | 2004-07-21 10:52:00 | Hi there, I've searched the forums for this but none seem to help, can anyone help me out? My Athlon 1600+ PC running Win XP Pro with SP1 fails to shutdown. I removed the "auto restart" function and when I try to shutdown now I get a blue screen that tells me "a problem has been detected..." etc (you know the BSD blurb), however the last line says: ***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8051646E, 0xF896DBCC, 0xF896D8CC) What is that referring to?? I checked the Event Viewer and there's no log of it crashing, I've got the latest BIOS for my my mobo (Gigabyte GA-7VTXE) and nothing out of the ordinary in Windows' Power Management. The BIOS has no options to disable shadowing or caching so I'm stuck as to what to try... any suggestions? I've not installed any new software or hardware and a system restore did not fix the problem. Is this a hardware fault? I'm hesitant to re-format but if I do, will it fix the problem? Thanks! |
