254037 2004-07-21 06:18:00 What would be the dream machine?, i mean 1 that is affordable as in the parts and prices, what would be a good computer to build that is cheap and affordable and not time consuming to wait for parts Codex (3761)
254038 2004-07-21 06:21:00 My P200mmx does everthing I NEED to do with a computer running Linux so I guess I've reach utopea ;). Cost $40. mark.p (383)
254039 2004-07-21 06:25:00 thats good then but i'm thinking more along the lines of what would be prefect to run all the games that are released and would be compatible with future games and software like my computer cant run all the new games and software that i've got like halo Codex (3761)
254040 2004-07-21 06:39:00 Gaming machines tend to set highs for performance and price, but there are always newer, "better" games coming out to make your new dream machine seem old and slow. Sorry, but it appears to be a fact of life.
As in many things, compromise is essential. Read the many other threads here and elsewhere for the many opinions, then "cut your coat to suit the cloth".

Ultimate dream machine would be either the Aurora ALX (www.alienware.com) or the Area 51 ALX (www.alienware.com).

254044 2004-07-21 10:34:00 I completely disagree.

I think that the any platform running the Intel 486DX Processor is a cause for celebration.

(This topic is very subjective)

254045 2004-07-21 10:51:00 Don't even joke about that dude. A mate of mine has just got hold of an old DX4 100 complete with Windows 3.11 and wants me to guide him through pulling it apart and fixing the busted bits and putting Win95 on it......yeeeach I just can't be bothered with it. ;\ Sb0h (3744)
254046 2004-07-21 10:59:00 Nice link Loh!

Re the DX4 100 - I was at a clients the other day and they still have a mission critical 386 PC running 3.1 Windows. Works fine - has done every day since 199? something. Nothing wrong with the old technology but I do love the new hyper-threading chips. :D
