255386 2004-07-25 10:34:00 Where is the folder for Netscape cookies? I could find it on my Win98 PC but cannot on my new XP. Thought it was in Windows/System - Configs/Mozilla (or similar path) but not there. Thanks. Steve_L (763)
255387 2004-07-25 11:02:00 Go to Program Files, Netscape, Users, your current user profile folder, and locate the file called cookies

255388 2004-07-25 18:48:00 Go into Messsenger, open Edit, Preferences, Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings, Server Settings. Under Local Directory you'll see a line similar to this:

D:\Programs\Netscape\Application Data\Default\74i1oshr.slt\Mail\mail.ISP.co.nz

Yours will probably be C:\etc. Browse to the folder that looks like 741oshr.slt (yours will of course look different).

But easiest is to just use your Search function!

255389 2004-07-25 23:58:00 Greg and John - thanks for the info but niether is applicable. The Users folder does not exist, and I did a search for 741oshr.slt on the entire HD and zippo result. I have checked every folder within Netscape, and prior to posting this Q on PF1, I did two searches for 'cookies' but only found IE cookies.

I have the latest Netscape version, 7.1, and have WinXP Home. Perhaps you both have different versions and different OS's?

This is really weird. The cookie folder should be easy to find.

Did you search for "cookies"? You won't find 741oshr.slt coz that's unique to each user on different machines. I have the same Netscape, but on XP Pro

This is probably what you are after ... first unhide files/folders.

Then follow this path (assuming you are administrator):

Documents and Settings\Admininistrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\9iox2zor.slt and there you will find the file cookies.txt.

Is that what you are after?

255392 2004-07-26 00:51:00 Are you sure cookies disabled?

Also Sometimes your browser does not accept cookies because the Time/Date in your task bar is set to an incorrect date.

255393 2004-07-26 04:32:00 Running same setup, open Netscape | Tools | Cookie Manager | Manage Stored Cookies This will give you a list of cookies, cl on any one for more info.
Went to C:\Documents and Settings\FrankS\ Cookies, this gives list of cookie files.

255394 2004-07-26 21:39:00 Johnboy - thanks - found the cookie.txt file using:

Netscape 6/7 Profile Location (sorted by Platform)
Windows 2000/Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profile_name\salted_name

It is strange that a Search on my HD could not find "cookies.txt".....hmmmnnnnn...... ahhhh yes........ I was fiddling around transferring some programs and data files from the main HD to the backup HD (needed to reduce C drive so it could all fit onto one DVD using Norton Ghost)..... I must have done the Search with Netscape on the other HD..... duh! :^O

And now I remember that instead of highlighting and deleting cookies as can be done with IE, the Netscape cookie manager must be used.

Thanks again. Cheers - Steve
