If you are assuming it sends the message blindly until its eventually received, thats incorrect. When you are in the coverage area, and your phone is turned on, the cellular system knows. Your phone periodically "phones home" to update the cellular system status. If your phone is off, or outside the area, then the messages will not be sent by the cellular system. They will be queued by the system and will only be sent when your phone comes back in range and is turned on. As to the delay in them being sent after your phone is accessible again, that would be dependent on many factors including the network load, individual cell site loading etc and perhaps Vodfone would be best able to comment. |
