256317 2004-07-29 01:02:00 Hi everyone, it's been a while but I've struck, should we say, a bit of a problem. I've got a 64MB USB flash drive that doesn't like me.

The problem I have is that while there is no files on the drive, it is showing up as having space used. Look at the screenshot below.

Now is this an inane software problem, some sort of hardware problem, or is my USB drive completely, well, stuffed?

256318 2004-07-29 01:15:00 What happens if you select Show Hidden Files from Tools / Folder Options / View tab? Jester (13)
256319 2004-07-29 01:18:00 Nothing. I probably should've written that - there's nothing, at all, on the drive. bRaZZiN (2228)
256320 2004-07-29 01:40:00 Is there a way to format the drive (eg: right click on the drive's icon in "My Computer" and select "properties" and hunt around for a "format" command)...

This might flush out any phantom data on the drive :)

256321 2004-07-29 01:44:00 ... or, more likely, the format command will come up in the list when you right click on the drive's icon (ie: probably won't need to go into "properties"... Starfish42 (5881)
256322 2004-07-29 01:48:00 How old is it?

Has it always given trouble?

You can format them inorder to recover the space but in my experience once they go bad, they keep going bad.

Infact i have a Kingmax 256mb model here that i have returned to the supplier twice, they formatted it and returned it twice.B$^$$&d's.Do they think i wouldn't have made every possible attempt at stabizing the drive before sending it back?.............Twice?

256323 2004-07-29 03:03:00 it's about six months old... and yes it's a kingmax. I've formatted it a couple of times now but I'm on a work pc and there isn't sufficient priveliges to format it here.

When I get home I'll see if I can format it. Doesn't sound good though...
