256316 2004-07-29 00:27:00 Just been given a SCSI Ultra160/LVD/SE 80 pin hot swap drive.

I've plugged it up with an 80 pin to 68 pin adaptor, and set about testing it.
When I power the PC up, the drive spins up, does a head movement, then spins down and stops.

There is only one jumper on the drive itself and that is "Force SE".

The adaptor has a number of jumpers on it - four for setting the SCSI ID, one marked MTR, one marked DLY, one marked SYN and another for the LED.

I've tried setting the DLY, MTR and SYN jumpers in various combinations but I still can't get the drive to spin up and stay spinning.

I've been into the SCSI adaptor card settings and told it to send a start command to the drive but that doesn't seem to work either.

I'm running a Tekram DC-390UW card.

Because the drive is not spinning when Windows is starting to boot it causes Windows to hang coz it can't see the drive properly.

Any ideas?
