256120 2004-07-28 12:22:00 Hi guys... am on the Vodafone network, and am interested in being able to read email on a PDA... My father has a Sony P900 cellphone, but because it isn't running a Windows OS, it won't be able to access Exchange Server to get emails, etc...

My question is... can I buy a separate PDA like this one (www.ascent.co.nz), use the bluetooth connectivity to connect to another cellphone, and be online via WAP / GPRS to check my emails, organise calender, etc?

Next question is... can I be online ALL the time checking emails, and still be able to receive phone calls on my cellphone?

Cheers,

Lo.

256121 2004-07-28 12:23:00 One last question... what is THE PDA to get?? Assuming I'm not price sensitive, and I'd like something to last a year or so. :D

256123 2004-07-28 13:36:00 Hi Loh
I read your first thread and am not a PDA expert so didn't reply until I saw you were the only poster on this topic, but here goes anyway : IMHO the iPaq's are nothing like the Sony P800 or P900 - those are nifty and there are heaps of add-ons, but IMHO the iPaq is too big & clunky (unless you're a travelling sales rep then they are about right, but they do look pretty cool with the belt holster) - can't speak about the connectivity sorry

256124 2004-07-28 13:39:00 That's cool... I wanted a small phone, as I didn't like the new i-Mate smartphones... I kinda want to be able to at least use my phone over weekends, without having to deal with a phone the size of a P900. So I figured using 2 separate devices would be the way to go... maybe I need some more direction in terms of a decent PDA device?

I hope someone can answer my question about the connectivity side of things though...

Oh well, hopefully someone will wander along!

256128 2004-07-29 04:47:00 Vodafone are just about to or maybe have already bring out the Blackberry in NZ.
Cool smart phone with full qwerty keyboard that can send and receive emails and is compatible with Exchange Server 2003.
Might be a bit expensive for a single user though :(
