1366987 2014-02-06 20:47:00 All of a sudden and out of the blue I’m getting words in green and double underlined in text from various sources including this site.

5536

Question is, how do I stop it?

:thanks

1366988 2014-02-06 21:13:00 Im reasonably sure thats a form of adware... When you mouse over this text does it popup with an ad? Slankydudl (16687)
1366989 2014-02-06 22:33:00 I'd disable all extensions and then re enable them one by one, it could be one of them which is doing it. Nick G (16709)

Sure does.

I'm using Firefox with the Adblock add-on but it seems to get past.

1366991 2014-02-06 22:37:00 Are you using Chrome by any chance (www.pcworld.com)?

EDIT: Is the same thing happening with Firefox?

1366993 2014-02-07 00:35:00 It's very likely to be some kind of adware of rogue browser extension.

Some websites do have that kind of crap built in as a form of advertising but as far as I know this forum doesn't.

Copping it on NZ Herald & Stuff as well as here.

1366995 2014-02-07 20:56:00 Problem solved. :clap

It seems the computer had gone on some “dog breeding programme” because MalwareBytes found some PUP’s which it removed and normal transmission has now resumed.

Quite what breed of PUP’s they were remains a mystery, but all is well for the moment anyway.
